Anthony (Tony) Royston Grant Griffiths was born in Semaphore, South Australia in 1940. He was educated at the University of Adelaide and Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He has taught Australian and Scandinavian history for 25 years in Japan, Australia, and Europe. Griffiths' publications include works about Australian, Scandinavian, and Irish history, covering topics such as war, politics, culture and commerce
