Administrative / Biographical history

Janet Shaw was born in 1959 in Melbourne and began writing in 1981 during her first and only year of secondary teaching. Along with teaching creative writing, Shaw has published short stories for children and adults in anthologies and magazines, winning multiple awards including the 'Writers for the young' fellowship in 1983, and the Judah Waten story writing competition in 1987. In 1990 she published In this house, a collection of 18 short stories about home and the need to belong
