Administrative / Biographical history
Author, editor and script writer Maree Teychenne was born in 1949 in Traralgon, Victoria. From 1974-1982, Teychenne worked as a script writer, editor and researcher with the Victorian Education Department's Film Unit. The documentaries written during this time include A Zoo in the Trees and Our Fragile Coast. With a wide-ranging writing style, Teychenne has written film scripts, plays, poetry, short stories, songs, musicals, and humorous works for children. Teychenne's short stories and poetry have been published in anthologies in the UK, New Zealand, and Australia, and translated for German and Russian anthologies. As well as founding Imago Writers and co-founding Carringbush Writers, Teychenne has won multiple awards for her writing

The papers of Maree Teychenne include manuscripts, clippings, short stories, and a computer disk. The bulk of the collection comprises papers associated with Teychenne's work with the Victorian Education Department's Film Unit, including Alan Marshall – Author and Man (1975), Our Fragile Coast (1980), and A Zoo in the Trees (1981)
