Purchased from the Tasmanian Writers' Union in two consignments received in 1990 and 1992

Scope and Content

This collection relates to the Tasmanian Writers' Union and includes entries for the writers' directory, correspondence, event programmes, publicity material, membership records, and grant applications. Some material pertains to specific writer residencies such as Eric Beach (1988) and Janine Burke (1986), and events such as the Salamanca Arts Festival

System of arrangement

The Tasmanian Writers' Union (TWU) produced a newsletter from 1981-1997 as well as a writers' directory. The TWU was integral to the Salamanca Art Festival, as well as organising readings, residencies, and events for writers. In May 1997 Tasmanian Writers' Centre was created, incorporating TWU
