Administrative / Biographical history
Author Catherine Hoffmann (frequently spelled Hoffman) was born in Hungary in 1948 and arrived in Australia in 1956. After studying at Monash University, she worked as a teacher, library assistant and trainee botanist. She began writing in 1967, writing mainly short stories and novels. Her short stories have appeared in Inprint, Matilda, Overland and the Bulletin Library Supplement

The papers of author Catherine Hoffmann are predominately made up of drafts of literary works, along with notebooks, newspaper clippings, galleys, and notes. Her 1987 novel Crystal: a tale of desire and flight is represented from first drafts to final copies
