Administrative / Biographical history
Margaret Bradstock (1945- ) is a writer, reviewer, academic and critic who lectured at the University of New South Wales for 25 years, in the areas of English, Medieval Studies, Australian Literature, Creative Writing, and Chinese Literature in Translation. She is the author or co-editor of works of fiction, biography and poetry.
Louise Wakeling (1950- ) is a poet who has taught English and creative writing in university, colleges of TAFE, prisons and secondary schools. She has also published widely, including two novels, two volumes of poetry and many coedited and co-written works, among them an anthology of Australian poetry.

Scope and Content
This collection comprises manuscripts, correspondence, literary drafts and reviews of Margaret Bradstock's and Louise Wakeling's literary works. It includes manuscript material for Rattling the Orthodoxies and contributions, drafts and correspondence for their collection of autobiographies Words from the Same Heart (1987). Also the original contributions and drafts for the book Beyond Blood: Writings on the Lesbian and Gay Family published in 1995, which is on the subject of alternative parenting, with the focus on lesbian and gay experience. These autobiographical, theoretical, analytical, practical and creative contributions offer a valuable and unique perspective on the subject of the gay family. The collection also includes drafts of the memoir contributed to Words from the Same Heart by E. M. (Monte) Punshon (1882-1989).

Access: The collection is open access with the exception of the materials for the books "Beyond Blood", "Small Rebellions" and "Flight of the Koala" in folders 39-44. The permission of the donors is required to access these items up until 2028.
