Administrative / Biographical history
Author and poet Angelika Fremd (also known as Fremd-Wiese) was born in Seelow, Germany in 1944 and emigrated to Australia in 1956. After gaining a Master of Arts, she taught English, History and Languages in Queensland and Papua New Guinea high schools from 1966-1986. She worked as a multicultural and community literature officer in Queensland, co-founded Phoenix Publications as well as co-founded and co-edited Outrider. Along with short stories, poetry and periodicals, Fremd has published two novels, Heartland (1989) and The Glass Inferno (1992), both focusing on a woman whose family escapes Germany in the 1950s.

The papers of Angelika Fremd include drafts of manuscripts, diaries, dream journals, correspondence, reviews, documentation, and an audio cassette. A large component of the collection comprises Fremd's diaries and journals which date from 1986-2001
