Port of Liverpool, County Palatine of Lancaster, to wit. [Declaration of soldiers from the British Auxiliary Legion, being prisoners of war enabling them to proceed to their respective homes]; signed by Edward Rushton, Stipendiary Magistrate for Port and Borough of Liverpool; on the back are signatures and a note pledging money to the soldiers, 5 August 1845
The certificate states that John Brown Serjeant, John Williams Corporal, with one hundred and thirteen others in company late soldiers belonging to the British Auxiliary Legion, came before Edward Rushton to declare that they had belonged to the said legion and had been prisoners of war until the French Government procured their liberation.
